About Electrocept
Our Vision
Electrocept is the world leader in providing quick and easy monitoring of the body’s electrical signals. We enable the accurate detection for many wellness and health conditions available in the electrical signal biomarkers.
Tom Evans
ELECTROCEPT FOUNDER & CEO
While studying biomedical engineering at Marquette, I worked as an Emergency Medical Technician, where I learned about ECG issues first hand. Assessing patients for respiratory, cardiac, and trauma emergencies on scene revealed the challenges of setting up the ECG device. I had to quickly decide if I would remove patients’ clothes in public, or move them to the privacy of the ambulance. Hairy or sweaty skin often compromised the ECG setup. Not only were these issues frustrating, they took up critical time. In some cases the delay in care put our most critically unstable patients at risk.
I knew there had to be a better way, so I started Electrocept, bringing together top bio-medical researchers to develop and patent the world’s first non-contact ECG system — a more flexible, efficient, and compassionate sensor solution.

Why the Electrocept Name?
Electroception is the biological ability to perceive natural electrical stimuli. It has been observed almost exclusively in aquatic or amphibious animals since water is a much better conductor of electricity than air. The known exceptions are the monotremes (echidnas and platypuses), cockroaches, and bees.
